This course is designed for those who supervise, or operate equipment employing abrasive wheels in the engineering, agricultural and construction industries etc. The course will provide candidates with the ability to supervise effectively, prepare and maintain abrasive wheel equipment whilst complying with relevant Health & Safety Legislation. Practical use of abrasive wheels may also be included by agreement prior to the course.
Delegates are asked to bring along their normal PPE (goggles of EN166B standard, FFP3 standard face masks, safety shoes / boots) along with the usual disc cutting / grinding discs and associated tools.
This course involves both practical and theoretical sessions. It will focus on:
• Legislation pertinent to the operation and maintenance of grinding and cutting equipment.
• General principles of safety.
• Hazards – including bursts, noise, vibration, dust, debris, fire.
• The selection of suitable PPE and the necessary standards to consider.
• Selection, fitting and testing of cutting & grinding discs.
• Pre and post use checks.
• Control measures and machine guarding.
• Safe operation of grinding equipment where agreed prior to the course.
Successful completion of this course will result in the issue of a certificate of attendance which is valid for a period of three years.
