A Tractor Operator/Assistant Livestock Person is required for a Galashiels-based family-owned mixed livestock farm covering approximately 500ha, comprising permanent and rotational grass leys, spring barley and fodder crops, and commercial woodlands.
The Tractor Operator/Assistant Livestock Person will work closely with the Farm Manager and play a key role in the day-to-day management of the farm’s livestock and machinery operations. They will be responsible for operating tractors and farm machinery across a range of tasks, while contributing to the care and efficient management of our breeding ewe flock and store cattle.
The role calls for a blend of practical livestock skills, machinery competence, and a genuine commitment to animal welfare. An ability to embrace on-farm technology is also required to optimise the farm’s data capture, using its TePari Racewell HD4 with True-Test and Herdwatch integration.
Responsibilities include:
• Operating tractors and other farm machinery for tasks including feeding, bedding, muck spreading, carting silage/straw, and general fieldwork
• Assisting with the management and care of 1,500 Mule breeding ewes, including feeding, health monitoring, dosing, jagging and lambing
• Help managing a herd of 130 store cattle
• Other general farm duties
Skills & Experience required:
• Experience operating farm machinery, including tractors, toppers etc
• Previous experience working with livestock, ideally sheep and cattle
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team, showing initiative and taking responsibility
• A genuine passion for farming and animal welfare
• Full, clean UK driving licence required
• Additional licences or certifications (eg ATV, chainsaw) are advantageous (the farm will pay for licences and training)
• Working dog(s) desirable; assistance with dogs can be discussed
Full-time position, 45hrs per week (plus weekend overtime – approx 8 hours every other weekend).
Salary is competitive, dependent on experience. Accommodation is not currently provided.

General Farm Worker required for farm business covering 2,900 acres over 10 different farms in the Scottish Borders on the East Berwickshire coast growing a variety of crops as well as fattening over 300 Limousin cattle.
The job starts at the end July running to Mid-September (although this is flexible) and work will include:
• Grain Carting
• Straw Raking
• Bale Carting
• Cultivations including Rolling and Subsoiling
• Light cattle work (feeding and bedding)
The job comes with farm accommodation and some evening meals included (if staying in accommodation). All modern equipment – John Deere tractors are fitted with Greenstar Guidance.
Competitive rates of pay.
You must have a full UK driving licence and a Telehandler certificate would be useful (not essential), as would some tractor driving experience.

Ideally you will have an agricultural background and understand the needs of farming and rural businesses. You should have strong organisational and communication skills, be confident using office systems and administration processes and be able to work independently while also be part of the team.
The position offers a flexible part-time position based at our new Lothian office at Ratho Park Golf Club.

A farm business located near Kelso is looking for a dedicated Arable Operator to join their team with experience of combining, spraying, cultivations, drilling, machinery repairs/maintenance.
Other general farm duties will also be required.

Bedmax, the UK’s leading equine and animal bedding manufacturer, is looking to recruit a Development and Maintenance Engineer for its site at Greymare, Belford.
This is a fulfilling, hands-on and varied role for someone who is technically minded, curious and enjoys making a difference. A problem solving attitude is essential.
The plant is a continuous process that does not like to stop and you would be essential in sustaining this. Electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical and electronic processes are all involved but not all these skills are essential to begin with; however, you will need to become familiar with them all over time.

A hardworking and reliable general farm worker wanted for a family farm and contracting business based in North Northumberland.
The farm rears 1400 calves from two-week old with the majority sold at five months; some grown on to stores. There is a range of arable and silage contract work for local farms as well as snow clearance and verge mowing to the local authority.
The role is varied and hands-on, covering all arable and livestock work.
Duties will include:
• All aspects of arable stubble to stubble work
• Baling – round and square straw and silage
• Feeding and bedding growing cattle
• Help in calf rearing shed if required
• General farm, workshop and yard duties
The ideal person will have:
• Previous farm experience
• Be confident with tractors and machinery
• Have a good work ethic and takes pride in their work
• Can work independently and as part of a small team

Due to growth, we are looking to employ a full-time general farm worker/tractor driver for a mixed beef, sheep and arable farm near Ellingham, Northumberland.
We are looking for a skilled individual with a can-do attitude, who can work both alone and within a team. Work will primarily be based with store/fat lambs and a cattle enterprise, taking on the day-to-day tasks involved with caring for the stock, but may include tractor work during busy times of the year.
Applicants must have full UK driver's license.
Job Responsibilities:
• Feeding and bedding cattle
• Mucking out sheds
• All aspects of getting store lambs ready for sale as fat, including dosing, jagging, foot trimming, weighing and grading lambs. (Please note there is no lambing to do within this role.)
• Tractor aspects may include leading corn, bales, muck, and moving stock between sites, help with silage etc
Full in-house training will be provided on all the above and any external training where necessary. The typical working week is 0800-1700 Monday to Friday. Weekends are rotated on a shared basis between other workers whilst stock are housed during the winter.
Salary is negotiable based on experience. Please note there is no accommodation currently available with this job.

Experienced GFW required to join a dedicated team on farm near Duns.
Must be motivated, diligent, and reliable. Duties will include day-to-day stock work and tractor work, with every 3rd weekend on.
The farm has a pig enterprise with 350 sows and is looking to expand arable contracting business in SE Scotland. Stock experience would be an advantage whilst with pig not essential as pig training will be applied on farm.
The company has an ongoing training program for all employees and is fully compliant in all health and safety awareness programmes.
The farm is a 15-minute drive from the centre of Duns. Attractive package for the right candidate.
