Farm Advisory Service: Arable+Series – Green Covers Workshop

This workshop is the second in a series of meetings investigating the use of summer and autumn sown green covers. Green covers can be used for fertility building, as a break crop, and can bring multiple soil health benefits.

Learn about monitored green covers sown this autumn and how they can fit with 2026 EFA Greening options along with the risks and benefits from grazing with livestock.

There will be opportunity to learn of new changes to greening rules which will allow wider species mix and early grazing by livestock.

Duns Rugby Club: Christmas Tractor Run

Get your lights charged, your woolly hats ready and your flasks sorted for the Duns RFC Annual Christmas Tractor Run.
Leaving Duns at 6pm, Saturday 20th December the festive convoy will follow the same magical route as last year, lighting up:

Chirnside
Allanton
Whitsome
Swinton
Leitholm
Greenlaw…and back home to Duns

Expect twinkling tractors, plenty of Christmas cheer, waves from the roadside, and maybe even a snowman or Christmas tree along the way!
So wrap up warm, gather the family, and come out to cheer - it’s one of the most joyful nights of the year!

A fascinating and inspiring day, with a great speaker line up sharing their stories and exploring how we can capitalise on new opportunities and adapt to a future for farming with less reliance on public funding.

There are hree areas of focus during the day exploring and discussing targeting new markets and clients; supplying more Scottish produce into local Scottish markets; and looking at growing and supplying new, sustainable products.

Digby Sowerby - MD of Environmental Farmers Group - a co-operative group of farmers delivering positive environmental change, funded through natural capital trading.

Martyn Anthony, CEO of Organic Herd (formerly OMSCO, the Organic Milk Suppliers Co-op) explaining how bnusiness has evolved over the past 30 years.

SAOS's Allene Bruce, Head of Supply Chain Development, and also  Dennis Overton, Chair of the Scottish Food Commission

There will also be a presentation from headline sponsors, NFU Mutual on the hot topic of Cyber Security, helping ensure a safer future online.

The Conference is followed by a pre-dinner drinks reception, where we'll be presenting the Ed Rainy Brown Award.
