Meadow Stores Ormiston: Tranent, East Lothian
Charterhall: Duns, Berwickshire
Laboratory Technician – primarily based at Charlesfield, you may be asked to travel to work in the various sites’ laboratories as required. The role will involve the testing of samples from lorries delivering to or collecting from the stores, preparing, and testing bulk samples from the stores as well as the testing of samples collected from farms.
No experienced needed as full training will be given.

You will learn and develop skills in the following:
• The essentials of testing grain, which may include Barley (feed and malting), Wheat (feed and milling), Beans, Oats, Peas, OSR and Rye
• Preparing samples and sampling
• Quality assurance and Quality Control
• Weighbridge operation and stock management
Candidates will need to have a flexible approach to work. During the harvest period it would be beneficial if the candidate were able to work longer hours, split shifts, and weekends as necessary.
Skills Required:
Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
Grains and/or agricultural knowledge would be beneficial but would not preclude the right candidate, who must have a willingness to learn
The candidate must be computer literate and have good admin and communication skills and the ability to deal with hauliers delivering or collecting grains
The ability to organize, prioritize and manage workloads
The ability to train and supervise temporary workers taken on during the harvest period
Stock management of the products must be undertaken accurately and reported in order to authorise supplier payments
Additional duties supporting general admin tasks will be required with full training given
Experienced GFW required to join a dedicated team on farm near Duns.
Must be motivated, diligent, and reliable. Duties will include day-to-day stock work and tractor work, with every 3rd weekend on.
The farm has a pig enterprise with 350 sows and is looking to expand arable contracting business in SE Scotland. Stock experience would be an advantage whilst with pig not essential as pig training will be applied on farm.
The company has an ongoing training program for all employees and is fully compliant in all health and safety awareness programmes.
The farm is a 15-minute drive from the centre of Duns. Attractive package for the right candidate.
