IS IT TIME TO TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE OF AN APPRENTICESHIP?
Scottish Apprenticeship Week runs from 2 to 6 March 2026 and aims to shine a spotlight on the power of apprenticeships to create careers, build businesses, grow the workforce and get real returns for the economy.
Scottish Apprenticeship Week will show that apprenticeships are working for Scotland by creating careers and enabling people to reach their potential, supporting employers to develop and grow their workforce and getting real returns for the economy.
The campaign will demonstrate how Scottish Apprenticeships are critical to help grow and expand the nation’s workforce, giving people skills to thrive. From Shetland to the Borders, from family firms to global businesses, apprenticeships are working for Scotland.
According to recent figures supplied from Skills Development Scotland, more than £100 million of Scottish Government funding was given to support up to 25,500 new Modern Apprenticeships in 2025/26. There are currently 40,000 apprentices in training, compared to around 26,600 in 2008.
All modern apprenticeships are designed in partnership with employers with more than three quarters (76%) in key growth sectors.
Most employers (90%) said apprenticeships significantly improved job performance and three months after completion, nine out of 10 individuals are still working for the employer they started their apprenticeship with.
