WIN AN ATV AND SUPPORT SCOTLAND’S YOUNG FARMERS BIG BUILD
A £1.6million fundraising drive to secure a future home for Scotland’s Young Farmers has received a major boost, with the chance for one lucky supporter to win a brand-new all-terrain vehicle (ATV) at this year’s Royal Highland Show.
The Scottish Machinery Ring Association (SMRA) has teamed up with the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs (SAYFC) to launch a high-powered prize draw.
Tickets are on sale now and popular sheep farmer and social media star Cammy Wilson will draw the winning ticket on 20 June at the Royal Highland Show for a CF Moto C Force quad bike. The money raised will go toward the Big Build campaign to create a new permanent home for Scotland’s Young Farmers at Ingliston.
The road-legal ATV package is worth nearly £7,500 and comes with a two-year warranty and includes a tracker, training, a helmet and dog basket. It will be on display at the show until Saturday evening, when the winning ticket is drawn.
Generous donations
SMRA chairman James Playfair-Hannay said: “We’re delighted to be supporting the Big Build in the run-up to this year’s Royal Highland Show. We’ve got a great high-spec quad bike to be won with tickets for the draw at only £20 – and they’re available now, so get them sooner rather than later.
“In previous years, we have raised thousands with our prize draws through the generosity of our Ring members and the wider rural community. It feels entirely appropriate that we are supporting the next generation of farmers in reaching their goal to provide a year-round base for the organisation.”
The Big Build campaign has already raised £900,000 towards the £1.6million needed to replace the SAYFC’s former building, which was recently demolished.
Big Build support
SAYFC chief executive Penny Montgomerie said: “We are hugely grateful for the support of Scotland’s machinery rings as they back the Big Build.
“For the first time in decades, SAYFC has been left without a permanent base - a loss felt most acutely during the Royal Highland Show, one of the busiest weeks in our calendar.
"Our members will be out there in the coming weeks, enthusiastically promoting the prize draw. And we’re all looking forward to Cammy Wilson, well known for his YouTube channel The Sheep Game, making the draw.”
This year’s quad bike is supplied by Thomas Murray Agricultural Engineers and can be seen at the show on the SMRA stand 289, Avenue Q.
Tickets are available now, and cost £20 with all proceeds (after the cost of the ATV) pledged to support the Scottish Association of Young Farmers Clubs’ Big Build Campaign.
